Conviction & Courage Gala Fundraiser
Held at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, a black-tie gala and concert raise $3.9 million in a single night — a record for Biola.
Biola University launched the public phase of its $180 million comprehensive campaign, "A Soul of Conviction, A Voice of Courage: The Campaign for Biola University" with a black-tie fundraiser that raised $3.9 million in a single night.
The event was held at the Ace Hotel, which now houses one of Biola's historic "Jesus Saves" neon signs — which originally adorned the downtown campus at Sixth and Hope streets.
The night featured a keynote address from Eric Metaxas and was capped off with a concert from Phil Wickham, The Brilliance, and Josh Garrels.
“This is the largest, most ambitious fundraising campaign in Biola's history — by a long shot — because our dreams for Biola’s future are big”
— Biola University President Barry H. Corey
I was tech and content lead for the event, overseeing all of the Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) technology, acting as the show director, producing our live stream, as well as creating all of the imagery seen on the large LED wall behind our presenters. I also led my marketing team, which captured b-roll and photography to document the evening.
In preparation for the event, I worked with Biola's Advancement team to hone, sharpen, and simplify the talking points — ensuring everything presented would have the highest impact possible.
Here's a highlight video my team created from the historic evening:

After the event and campaign, I received Biola's President's Award for Excellence — one of the highest and rarest achievements possible by a Biola employee.
